Center for Non-Religious Spirituality

I started the Center for Non-Religious Spirituality (CNRS) in 2021 to create an online community for people to explore spirituality beyond the mindsets, mentalities and core beliefs of traditional religion. CNRS is a hub and network of resources for people who are in the process of deconstruction and reconstruction, cultivating a post-religion spirituality, or recovering and healing from spiritual abuse, religious trauma, or toxic indoctrination. There is a minimal $25 annual membership fee.

Another key objective of CNRS is to train and certify non-religious spiritual directors. We developed the only training and certification course in the world for non-religious spiritual directors who specialize in religious de/reconstruction and existential health. Brittney Hartley recently joint the team as one of our trainers. These individuals are specifically trained to address issues related to:

  • the meaning-crisis

  • nihilism and existential dread

  • religious pathology and trauma

  • religious deconstruction and reconstruction

  • post-religion spirituality

  • existential health
