I love learning about Bonehoeffer and his theology... I was excited to watch the movie, but then I learned MAGA's used his legacy to support Christian Nationalism? Which is weird, because if anything... He would be against Christian Nationalism

Thanks for this.

I think the idea that "God himself compels us to live in a world as if there is no God" is a mine one could excavate for a very long time and, in the end, still find as much insight as was found at the beginning.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how the christian nationalist (or any of us for that matter) can ignore the depth in a sentence like this, which I find to be so resonant with something that an Etty Hillesum or an Ellie Wiesel might write.

As I watched the film I felt more concerned about justifying assassinating Trump using baseless (in my opinion) rhetoric about Hitler or atrocities than about justifying Christian Nationalism. I asked BLM leaders early in their organization’s history to accomplish their goals without violence. The response I received indicates they would use violence when they deemed necessary. Against whom and under what circumstances we will use violence are good questions to ask ourselves. However, we should also guard against believing we can erroneously pre-judge the future and know best how to transform society for everyone’s benefit, to include killing people who pose a threat. Seems to me that is what Hitler did as well, this we become the enemy we want to prevent.

Hello, thanks for the introduction. I appreciate his conviction. Perhaps god within him gave the strength to endure such horrible circumstances.

I am agreeing with releasing the idea of "God as Other". Yes, it seems to me that following the example of those like Bonhoeffer means that we must (as in the words of Dag Hammarskjold): "influence the development of the world from within as a spiritual thing."
