I'm a retired hospice worker. My experience is some people comes to terms with dying but the fear is the possible sickness or pain that might accompany it.

Thank you for this informative discussion. I went and took the test on death archetypes and came up with The Mystic and book recommendations were interesting, one of which I'd already read. I'd like to offer a book suggestion by Anita Moorjani called Dying to Be Me about her near dying experience and beyond. It was fascinating!

Once there is the recognition and experience that the body is not the core of what you are. Fear of death of the body leaves and is replaced with deep peace that underlies existence.
